37 Marszałkowska Street. The Most Sacred Saviour church.
Buliding of the church lasted from 1903 till 1907.
During the siege of Warsaw in 1939 the church was severely damaged. Bullets destroyed the western tower and the roof. After the capitulation of the Uprising Germans started to ruin houses and churches utterly. As for this church, they mined the lower church, and the explosion totally damaged the lower church ceiling as well as the chapel that had used to be situated just over it. The chancel of the main altar was party destroyed as well as the upper part of the pulpit. The structural ceiling and stained glass windows were also mostly damaged. The organs, though, were shot to pieces. Two bells were fused, while the third one was confiscated by the occupants.
After the war the reconstruction works lasted till 1948, while the towers were rebuilt not earlier than in 1955.
On the church wall there are the following plaques:
- commemorating the Home Army soldiers of battalion "Ruczaj";
- commemorating the fallen and the murdered Home Army soldiers of the 3rd armoured battalion "Golski" and the 2nd assault battalion "Odwet";
- in memory of Ludwik and Józefa Bielicki who were murdered in Mokotów in September 1944.
